Jaime Munguia plans to register unquestionable and emphatic victory over Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan when the bangers meet in January.

Question marks still hang over the Mexican with regard the result the last time the former undefeated WBO light middleweight world champion faced Irish opposition.

Defending his title for a fourth time back in April, Munguia benefitted from generous scorecards after his meeting with Dennis Hogan. The Golden Boy affiliated Mexican was deemed fortunate by most to come away with the win and retain the brown belt in the process.

Criticism came in during the aftermath, but waned after the 23-year-old beat African welter Patrick Allottey last time out.

Munguia is now determined to make sure he has no Irish issues when he takes on Cork’s O’Sullivan in the Alamodome, live on DAZN come January 11th.

The unbeaten aggressive operator claims he is planning to be the obvious victor on his middleweight debut.

“We’re going to deliver a great fight against a tough fighter in Gary O’Sullivan,” said the Mexican youngster.

“He’s great and he’s strong, but we’re going to come very well prepared. We plan to do an excellent job and make it very clear who is the best in the ring.”

Zanfer Promoters fighter finally makes the much muted move to middleweight in the first big fight of 2020.

The Tijuana native has his sights sets on some big 160lbs names and has been linked with the likes of Canelo Alvarez in recent times.

However, he is aware he has to look impressive at his new weight to make sure those big middleweight fights happen.

“I’m excited to be moving up to 160 lbs. where they say that some of the most important fighters in boxing are. I have a very tough fighter in front of me, Gary O’Sullivan who’s very tough.”

“If I want those bigger fights then I have to demonstrate that I’m worthy of that against this guy, so I have to do my best in order to rise up in the rankings. I look forward to delivering a great fight for Mexico. Viva Mexico.”
