Tyson Fury hails ‘super sexy’ new Irish boxing star

Tyson Fury is one for smart   boxing predictions  so when he hails Lee Reeves as Ireland’s newest boxing star people will sit up and take note.

The former Irish and world heavyweight champion is one of a number within the sport to have been impressed with the start the Limerick welter has made to the pro ranks.

Chatter with regard to the 24-year-old’s ability began after back-to-back knockout wins in Canada, before some very high profile journalists joined the bandwagon last month.

Reeves fought on the undercard of Michael Conlan’s New York St Patrick’s Day fight night and outpointed Edward Torres in a fashion that caught the eye of many of those ringside.

The manner of the victory earned him press praise, but he will probably rejoice more in what Fury has had to say about him.

The heavyweight star sees a lot of himself in slick southpaw.

After seeing Reeves’ in action he declared “he’s fast, talented and super sexy.”

“Actually, he reminds me of someone – me! Looks like Ireland has a new boxing star.”
Promoter Lee Baxter is obviously as impressed as the Top Rank heavyweight. Baxter has already lined the welterweight up to top a bill later this month and believes he can become a big name in Canada.

After just three fights Reeves will be the main event on the annual Lee Baxter Promotions 4/20 event at the Danforth Music Hall in Toronto and is expected to face Argentinian Guillermo Ariel Lettieri [17(12)-2(2)-1] in what will be his first six round contest.

“He’s a natural showman,” said Lee Baxter. “The first two times he fought here, the first two fights of his career, his knockouts were what everyone was talking about at the end of the night. He has future champion written all over him, so we figured, why wait? He’s ready to be a headliner.”

The annual April 20th event, titled “Light ‘Em Up,” of course, is in its third year, and has sold out well before the event date each time and with added interest from the Irish community that is expected to be the case this time around.

“It’s gonna feel like Madison Square Garden on St. Patrick’s Day in the Danforth Music Hall, I promise you,” added Baxter.

“It’s an intimate venue, and it gets loud in there, and we know Lee’s fans bring the noise.”
