Two time National Elite finalist debuts in America tonight

Two time National Elite Championship finalist Matthew Tinker joins the pro ranks tonight.

The well traveled fighter debuts on the ‘Young King and Queens’ fight card, which plays out in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Indeed, Tinker is the co main event on a stacked Vegas Grand Boxing Promotions card.

The former St Francis BC fighter competed at light heavyweight in the tail end of his amateur days in Ireland, but was last seen in the ring as a heavyweight.

The now New York based puncher reached the finals of the final 2018 New York Golden Gloves, competing in the heavyweight class.

The Scarborough born fighter has also had amateur success in England winning the London and Southern Area titles in 2015, Haringey Box Cup gold in 2014 and he was a Junior ABA champion.

The 27-year-old was Senior Elite Irish Finalist at 81kg in 2014 and 2015 where he lost to decorated due Joe Ward – who himself has just turned over and will fight out of America – and Roy Sheehan.

The show Tinker debut’s on is hosted by Andrew Stokes of Stokes Promotions and LaVonda Earley-Stacey of Vegas Grand Boxing Promotions with proceeds going to a cancer charity.

Also fighting Stateside tonight is Stevie McKenna [3(3)-0]. The young Sheer Sports talent takes to the ring for the fourth time. The Monaghan 22-year-old takes on Gonzalo Carlos Daller [6(4)-6(5)] and will be hoping to continue his 100 percent KO record when he fights at the Hawaiian Gardens.
