Two Domestic Fights OFF ‘Clash of the Titans’ bill

The big ‘Clash of the Titans’ bill in Dublin this weekend will feature ‘just’ five all-Irish fights.

Seven domestic clashes were initially confirmed for the bill last month but, as fight week rolls around, two have fallen off.

Thankfully, all three title fights remain on the TG4 bill – the headline Irish featherweight title fight between Eric Donovan and Stephen McAfee, Victor Rabei’s BUI Celtic light welterweight title defence versus Jake Hanney, and the BUI Celtic super featherweight title clash between Aiden Metcalfe and Allan Phelan.

Additionally the six-round bouts at light welter between Francy Luzoho and Martin Quinn and at light middleweight between Graham McCormack and Jade Karam also remain.

However, the four-round super featherweight grudge match between Kelvin McDonald and Declan Kenna and the six-round light middleweight fight between Cillian Reardon and Jordan Latimer are both OFF.

Tallaght’s Kenna, who was to be making his debut in an instant domestic, has failed to secure a licence from the Boxing Union of Ireland in time, while Latimer [2(0)-1(1)] is out with tonsillitis.

McDonald [1(0)-0] and Reardon [4(0)-0] remain on Saturday night’s bill.

Larne teenager McDonald will face a to-be-confirmed opponent, and it is understood that one of tough Polish duo Krystzof Rogowski and Damian Lawniczak will feature in the away corner.

Stillorgan’s Reardon will box Hungarian Istvan Szucs [4(4)-13(8)-1], still over six rounds.

Tickets for ‘Clash of the Titans’ cost €40 (general), €60 (ringside), and €100 (VIP) and are available from the boxers involved or Ticketmaster (CLICK HERE).
