Tough opponents confirmed for Ulster Hall show

The first of the three pro cards set to play out in Belfast next month will have a solid and competitive undercard.

The latest edition of the #MTKFightNight series will return to the famous Ulster Hall on Friday May 17th but, unlike the Keeler v Cummings rematch bill, this show will feature some intriguing undercard bouts.

Ryan Burnett headlines in his return from injury while there is a 50:50 all-Irish super featherweight clash between Marco McCullough and Declan Geraghty.

Beyond this, then, there are some good match-ups confirmed.

St James’s super middleweight Padraig McCrory [7(3)-0] is in six-round action versus Manchester journeyman Darryl Sharp [5(0)-50(1)] who is known as one of the gamest on the circuit. A former Central Area champion at middleweight, the aggressive southpaw has taken rounds from prospects and contenders in over half of his losses – being ‘unlucky’ on the cards in many of them.

Young Omagh featherweight Callum Bradley [1(0)-0] also has a tough assignment in another Irish-Boxing.com favourite, Rafael Castillo [14(6)-51(19)-3]. The Nicaraguan always gives a good account of himself and has put in strong performances in Belfast versus super featherweights Feargal McCrory and James Tennyson previously

Debuting on the bill will by West Belfast cruiser Dee Sullivan. ‘The Vanilla Gorilla’ has a nice yardstick to go up against in awkward Pole Pawel Strykowski [2(0)-5(0)] who has given good run-outs to Paddy Nevin, Conor Cooke, and Stevie Collins Jr over the last year.

Also due to make his debut is Keady lightweight Sean Duffy and the Commonwealth Games bronze medallist is in with Nicaraguan Michael Isaac Carrero [13(6)-47(12)-6]. The game Central American once held European featherweight champion Mark Vidal to a draw and has gone the distance with some good names. This bout, however, is dependent on Carrero coming through his fight with prospect Alfie Price this Saturday unscathed.

Also down to feature on undercard are Sandy Row welter Lewis Crocker [7(6)-0], Ballymena light middle Steven Donnelly [4(0)-0], and Turf Lodge light welter Sean McComb [6(3)-0], with opponents expected shortly.
