Tims: I would knock ‘The Block’s’ block off in clash of the Titans

Ian Tims is adamant he would knock Stephen ‘The Block’ Reynold’s block off if the pair meet for the Irish Cruiserweight title.

Reynold’s is looking to out on a high and add the professional title to the four amatuer crowns that decorate his Sligo mantelpiece. Fulfilling a pro dream at the age of 40 in just his fourth pro fight would prove one of the many brilliant tails that Irish boxing has produced over the years.

Tims, however is a fairy tales are for bedtime not boxing kind of guy and is ready to rewrite the script.

The former Alan Reynold’s foe, who was stripped of the belt after his licence ran out, is adamant the 40 year old Celtic champ can’t be deemed the best in Ireland unless he beats the Dubliner. However, he is adamant if they do get it on the warrior of the East would be beat the warrior of the west in a clash of the Titans.

“I would ruin the fairy tale. It would be a clash of the Titans two proven warriors, who have amateur pedigree, but I would knock his block off,” Tims told Irish-boxing.com.

“I beat his brother up and I would beat him up too. I know the Reynolds well and they are good lads, but everyone is your enemy in the ring. I would punch lumps out of Reynolds, what age is he? He is an old man. Don’t get me wrong he is a worthy challenger for the title, but he wouldn’t be able to match me.”

With Tims no longer in possession of the belt and Conal Carmichael on the scene the clash might not be made, but either way ‘The Tank’ is looking for a massive 2014.

The fighter who doesn’t mince words or punches is injury free and ‘screaming’ for a fight. He is even open to competing  Super 8 Heavyweight Boxing Tournament, to be held on 4 June 2014 in Auckland, New Zealand.

“I have had the luck of the dead with injuries of late. I got all the problems sorted and was ready for Moses Matovu in the National Stadium and my knee went. I am back running now and I am back in the gym from tomorrow and I am ready to fight anyone.

“I want a good 12 months now. I want to be active. I want an Irish title I didn’t lose in the ring back. Then I want Conal Carmichael and I would love another crack at Tony Conquest. Nine times out of ten I would beat Conquest, he got the better of me last time, but I had some personal problems and that long standing shoulder injury going into that fight.

“I would fight in that Prizefighter style tournament in NewZeland too. Martin Rogan and Michael Sprott? I was heavyweight champion of Ireland in the amateurs I would be well able for that. I am screaming for fights this year. I am fit and I am ready to make my mark over the next 12 months.”
