Three Irish title defeats in Oz

There were no early St Patrick’s Day celebration for Irish fight fans in Oz on Saturday night.

All three Irish punchers in Sydney hosted title fights came out the wrong side of the scorecards.

Bill topper Darragh Foley lost over ten round in his eagerly anticipated clash with Brandon Ogilvie and missed out on the chance to buckle the WBA International around his waist.

The charismatic Foley’s slate now slips to 9-2-0.

The chief support bout didn’t disappoint, but did end in a disappointing result as Gearoid Clancy lost to Bradley Saunders by way of points in an IBO Oceanic title fight.

The Westerner had already beaten the Aussie fighter in an all action affair and while the rematch similar in style the result went Saunders way this time round.

Paddy Murphy’s return after 18 months out wasn’t a happy one as he was stopped by the touted Jack Brubaker in the sixth round of their OPBF Welterweight title fight.
