The Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month – END OF SUMMER SPECIAL


After taking a quiet July off, we’re back for an End of Summer Special of the Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month.

Taking in two pro shows, two European Championships, and some big wins abroad, we have a bumper list of nominees battling it out for the award.

Voting runs from today until Friday night, with results being announced on Saturday.

And the nominees are…

Noely Murphy
Welterweight
The Macroom man helped bring boxing back to Cork, headlining the county’s first pro show in a decade with a dominant win over Adam Mate.

Eddie Treacy
Light Middleweight
The Bray banger scored a KO of the Year contender in a big domestic clash with Owen Duffy, taking his Cavan rival out in two rounds on the Cork show.

Mick Conlan
Featherweight
The Belfast favourite had a dream night topping the massive Féile an Phobail bill and turned in a career-best performance with a ninth-round stoppage of Diego Ruiz.

Luke Keeler
Middleweight
The popular Ballyfermot boxer announced himself on the world stage by dropping and outpointed the favoured Luis Arias on the Féile card.

Welterweight
The Lenadoon fighter had British champion Chris Jenkins down and hurt before the controversial technical decision end to their clash at the Féile.

Fighting minutes from his front door at the Féile, the St James’s favourite claimed a first career title with a dramatic final-round knockout of Stevie Collins Jr.

The Mac Man claimed a massive upset win over Sauerland’s German Olympian Araik Marutjan, climbing off the canvas to eke out a points win.

The rangy Wexford puncher claimed gold at the European Schoolgirls Championships, scoring a knockout in the final versus Turkey following a semi-final win over the Georgian home favourite.

Ireland’s heavyweight future looks bright with Dubliner Olaniyan also taking gold at the European Schoolboys. The slick Jobstown puncher dominated the home favourite in the final.

Super Featherweight
King Kong got back to winning ways following his gallant world title challenge with an entertaining triumph over Eleazar Valenzuela in Mexico.

Connor Coyle
Middleweight
The progressing Derry fight topped another bill in America, stopping Rafael Ramirez in a Roy Jones Jr headliner in California.

Aoife O’Rourke
Middleweight
The Castlerea fighter won glorious gold at the European Championships in Madrid, beating Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish opposition and sending a pre-Tokyo warning out to the division.

Amy Broadhurst
Lightweight
The Dundalk medal machine picked up European bronze in Madrid, defeating Olympic bronze medallist Anastasia Beliakova in the quarters.

James Tennyson
Lightweight
The Poleglass Assassin claimed another impressive domestic win at the weekend, vapourizing Atif Shafiq in two rounds at the O2 Arena in London.
