Terrestrial TV channels in Bidding War to show Mick Conlan v Vladimir Nikitin rematch

No Irish or UK television details were announced today at the press conference to unveil Mick Conlan and Vladimir Nikitin’s pro rematch but fans on this side of the Atlantic needn’t worry.

The Féile fight card was formally confirmed this afternoon in Belfast and Conlan [11(6)-0] will get his chance at Olympic revenge on Saturday August 3rd in the Falls Park.

The fight headlines a Top Rank bill which will be shown via the ESPN+ app in America but no details regarding Irish and UK television were divulged during the press conference at the Balmoral Hotel.

Thankfully though, the bill will be available to watch on this side of the world, with a carrier to be confirmed shortly.

Jamie Conlan, older brother and manager to Mick, revealed to media after the press conference that a bidding war is currently taking place between a number of broadcasters both satellite and terrestrial.

The former super flyweight world title challenger explained that “we’re in negotiation with various UK and European-based television stations as well as Russian TV, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.”

“I think there’s going to be another announcement when we get the UK broadcaster on board, I think it could be big.”

“It could be a terrestrial broadcaster, we’re still in negotiations, there are two terrestrial TV channels involved and a major broadcaster as well.”

Conlan’s fights have, largely, been shown on the specialist BoxNation channel, which is available in Ireland through the eir Sport pack, thus far with the exception of his clash with Jason Cunningham on the undercard of Warrington-Frampton which was shown on BT Sport Box Office

Additionally, his first two fights were shown, deferred, on Irish terrestrial leader RTÉ.
