Tennyson looking forward to getting back on track

IRISH super featherweight champion James Tennyson is ready to put a frustrating 2014 behind him starting with victory on the Stand and Deliver Card this Saturday night.

‘The Baby Faced Assassin’ tasted defeat for the first time as a pro with a shock reverse in late 2013, but managed to comeback with a routine win Ignac Kassai before putting in a career best performance shutting out Ian Bailey in style over eight rounds.

Injury, however prevented The Belfast fighter from building on that May win and he cut a frustrated figure as he watched his MHD stable mates register wins on various Devinish hosted cards in the tail end of the year.

‘Tenny’ is chomping at the bit now and can’t wait for his ring return this Saturday and hopes to add two more titles to his collection in a ‘busy’ 2015.

“This is my first fight back from injury. It’s been very frustrating I’ve been out for quite a few months so feels good to be back and can’t wait to get back into the ring on fight night,” he told Irish-boxing.com.

“I would agree the Bailey fight  was one off my best performances. I got a great win and boxed very well that night, but to then get injured and have to take quite a bit off time off rather than build on that win and was frustrating.

“I hope to have a busy and successful 2015, hopefully I can pick up a title or two on the way if all goes well. At the minute I am just taking it one fight at a time.

Simas Volosinas a figther who recently brought Anthony Cacace and Declan Geraghty the distance provides comeback opposition for the Belfast Kronk fighter. The talented 21 year old would be expected to win, but he isn’t giving any pre fight predictions.

” I am just feeling great and looking forward to the fight. I’ve had an excellent training camp everything went well and I am confident. I don’t know too much about my opponent other than he went the distance with accae and also had a real close fight with Slowey from Scotland so I can’t over look him.

“I don’t do predictions, I am just going to go in box and take it as it comes, get that all important win and get back on track.”
