Taylor still World number 1- Grace and Lambe make rankings debut

Clare Grace (Callan BC) and Joanna Lambe (Carricmacross BC) have been included in the updated AIBA World Elite Women’s Rankings for the first time.
Grace and Lambe occupy No. 10 and No. 12 positions in the welterweight and featherweight rankings.
Michaela Walsh (Holy Family BC) is in No.14 spot at bantamweight.
Katie Taylor (Bray BC) reigns supreme at the top of the lightweight table as is now over 1,000 points ahead of her nearest rival, Russia’s Sofya Ochigava.
In an unprecedented display of consistency in international Elite sport, Taylor has now held No. 1 position for eight successive years.
The updated AIBA rankings reflect performances from last month’s European Women’s Championships. Taylor won gold – for the sixth successive time – and Grace claimed bronze. Walsh and Lambe both reached the quarter-finals.
AIBA rankings are based on performances at AIBA sanctioned tournaments over a two-year rolling period. The AIBA Men’s rankings remain unchanged.
