‘Strictly business’- ‘disciplined’ ‘Big Sexy’ Turner hails Fury move

‘It’s strictly business’ from here on out claims Sean Turner.

‘Big Sexy’ has relocated from his Dublin home to Manchester in a bid to save his career having seeing things stall dramatically of late.

Turner has teamed up with respected coach Peter Fury – who is somewhat of a heavyweight specialist – and is adamant the link up and the move away from Shankill distractions will see him finally get the best of his talents.

The heavyweight registered one of the best away Irish wins in 2017 when he stopped world ranked Arnold Gjergjaj in Switzerland, but suffered back-to-back defeats to Filip Hrgovic and Nathan Gorman as he took money fights at short notice in 2018.

The big man was open about the big spending that followed those reverses and will be the first to admit he wasn’t living the life at home.

A fighter that was never noted for clean living, but always remained a somewhat of a draw and had impressive moments in the ring, had been offered a helping hand by Pete Taylor, but found himself on the couch rather than the gym more often than not.

Indeed, that is exactly wHere he was when he got a call from Peter Fury, who coached Tyson Fury to world title success. Fury wanted him to come spar his son Hughie ahead of what of the new Matchroom heavyweights victory over Samuel Peter.

After the period of sparring, it seems the pair talked and the coach felt he could help.

The former National Elite champion and WSB operator agrees and believes the link up and better environment may inspire him to reach peak performance.

“It’s the best move for me,” he told British Boxers.

“I have world class sparing here with Hughie, world class training with Peter Fury and I am better away from home for camps. I am easily lead at home people will know that. Over here it’s strictly business.

“Discipline was bringing me down. I am 100 percent disciplined now.”

Turner, who last fought in the Summer of 2018, hopes to secure a September return and is confident he will be fit and ready for a big fight in the big man division before the year is out.

“Hopefully a big fight before the end of the year, one or two warm up fights maybe and I’ll wait till the big man lets me know I am ready.”

Turner, who is already working on a style that allows the 5’11 fighter to have success in the land of the giants, revealed he always had a bond with the Fury camp, but only of late realized it’s the place for him if he wants to achieve his potential.

“We have always clicked, myself Peter and the Fury’s. I was over here five or six times sparring Hughie and Tyson, but it was only when I turned 25, 26, 27 and I started to get bigger fights and then blowing all the money on shite basically, then I realized the best move for me was the UK to work with Peter. This is where I am now and this is where I am here to stay.”
