Stephen Tiffney extremely confident of beating DOJ – stoppage possible

Stephen Tiffney [10(4)-1(0)] has David Oliver Joyce he has no chance of defeating him this afternoon in the Middle East.

The Scot and Irish featherweights will battle it out for the WBO European ranking title and a possible Top 15 ranking at Dubai’s Emirates Golf Club – live on ESPN+ and iFL TV this Saturday night.

The 30-year-old Edinburgh native is confident mood going into the clash and predicts he will secure the win and the title.

The former Scottish title challenger suggests that Olympian Joyce is similar to him in style and possibly level, but assures his support that Scotland not Ireland will celebrating post the fight.

“I think we’re similar in the way we fight. I’ve trained hard and I know he has too, but I can’t see anything other than a Stephen Tiffney win,” said Tiffney before predicting an entertaining fight if not a stoppage for himself.

“I’m very confident, and I’m sure he will be confident coming into the fight as well. I think that will bring out the best in both of us. It will definitely be good for the people watching.”

“I believe I can stop him. It will be a hard fight but it wouldn’t surprise me if I did.”

While beating Joyce [9(7)-0] would represent a career best win for the Scot he is more motivated with the prize on offer than the scalp.

“With it being for the WBO European title as well, it will be good to get the win and beak into the top 15 rankings in the WBO and begin the chase of champion Oscar Valdez. I’m just taking it one fight at a time though, and the really big fights can come after this.”

“I’m 30 now so I’m pushing on a bit, so I want to win this fight and then it gets big for me.”
