Sheehan ready for busy few months, but doesn’t expect them to involve ‘Big Sexy’

Con Sheehan is ready to fight anyone for the Irish title, but doesn’t believe he will be fighting old friend and ring foe Sean Turner in the near future.
The Tipperary big man looked set for a mouthwatering Summer showfown with a fighter he defeated for amateur National honours, but claims ‘Big Sexy’s’ shock defeat to  Plymouth-based Pole Kamil Sokolowski has taken the gloss of the proposed match-up.
The Peter Fury-trained undefeated heavy thinks Turner will want a rematch and suggestions Sheehan will fight on Billy Joe Saunders undercard rather than Belfast on June 17th points to the fight being put on the long finger.
“I’m not too sure what the situation is there now since [Turner] was beat in his last fight against a guy I had no problem with.”
“It takes a bit of shine off the fight. I’d imagine Turner will want to get the rematch and then we’ll move from there, but soon as I’m offered a fight against anyone for the Irish title I’m more than happy for it, it’s just a matter of time,” Sheehan told Irish-Boxing.com.
In the more immediate future, the former Irish amateur standout has a challenge to overcome this weekend.
Sheehan expects to fight Chris Healey, who has won seven of his 10 fights, on the Kieran Farrell/MTK Manchester card at the at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester and will hope to be 6-0 before July is done with a clash on the big BT Card on July 8th.
“I’m told I am fighting Chris Healey. I don’t know much about him, but he’s a southpaw which will suit me I believe.”
“I’m not too sure about fighting on the Belfast card I think we are looking at the Billy Joe Saunders card on the 8th oh July.
“It’s always good to be busy because your constantly improving from being in the gym non stop.”
Sheehan is in camp along side former heavyweight champion of the World Tyson Fury, but claims the star name hasn’t been working directly with him this time round.
“Tyson is back training, but he is doing his own thing trying to shed the weight first before he goes into a hard camp.”
