A second all-Irish fight has been confirmed for the Prospect/Wilton show in Belfast next month.

The card takes place on Saturday November 26th at the Shorts Sports & Recreations Club near George Best Airport and will be headlined by an eight-round Celtic Nations light welterweight title fight between Belfast’s Jamesy Gorman and Dublin’s Shortty Carroll.

Also featuring on the card will be a four-round lightweight Belfast battle between Mathew Fitzsimons [2(2)-0] and Alec Bazza [0-19(3)-1].

Fitzsimons is returning to the ring after an absence of over 14 months. Still just 20 years old, the big-punching ‘Thunder’ is aiming to eventually fit his 6’2″ frame into the 126lbs featherweight limit.

In Bazza, who himself is moving down from light welter, Fitzsimons faces a tough comeback fight. The 28 year old is one of the most respected journeymen around, known for his aggressive style which forces prospects to trade and be switched on for the entire four rounds. The show also gives Bazza the rare opportunity to fight in front of a home crowd and while he can’t ever be accused of not fighting to win, some local support will certainly help push him to another level.

Bazza also looks set to feature on a card in Scotland on November 12th, so a fight with Fitzsimons is dependent on him not suffering a stoppage loss or an injury here.

The remainder of the card will be comprised by Ger Whitehouse, Matthew and Luke Wilton, and Casey Blair.
