Sean Duffy claims second Team NI Commonwealth medal

Team NI boxer Sean Duffy has claimed the team’s second Commonwealth medal after overcoming an awkward Khir Akyazian Azmi.

The 23-year-old had booked his spot in the quarter-finals of the Light Welterweight division on Sunday after overcoming Fabiani Gaudence Pius.

In a scrappy first round, Duffy prevailed against an opponent who seemed more content to hold rather than box.

Duffy continued to come forward in the second as his opponent lost a point for continuous holding.

The Team NI boxer had the higher workrate in the third and won to claim at least a Bronze. His Semi Final fight is on Friday at 2.15pm
