‘Rook’ Dalton misses out on medal after defeat to Australia’s Moloney

Team NI boxer Ruairi ‘Rook’ Dalton fell just short of a medal at the Commenwealth Games on Tuesday after suffering defeat to Australia’s Andrew Moloney in the Fly (52KG) division.

After beating Christopher Katanga from Zambia by a unanimous 3-0 scoreline, Dalton went on to beat Ezra Paul Mwanjwango of Tanzania by the same margin in the last 32.

However ‘Rook’ was outpointed at Tuesday’s afternoon session by Moloney and went out out of the tournament.

Dalton put in a good performance and can exit the tournament with his head held high.
