Rock on revenge mission – Ormond confident of avenging Evans defeat

Revenge is a dish best served in Cardiff claims Stephen Ormond [27(13)-5].

‘The Rock’ travels to Wales this weekend to rematch local Craig Evans [19(3)-2(1)] and claims there is no better venue to avenge his Summer 2017 reverse.

The pair fight for the WBO European ranking lightweight title once held by the Clondalkin fighter and Ormond is confident he win the strap for a second time on Saturday.

“It’ll be nice to gain revenge on his turf. I’m expecting a very tough fight again but I’m confident,” the Pascal Collins trained fighter explained before revealing the ranking title will open doors.

“Victory can lead to even bigger and better things because it would put me high up in the rankings and in line to challenge big names.”

Considering Ormond is 36 and his opponent seven years his junior many have Evans favourite going into the rematch.

However, the veteran  operator is adamant has been stating he is as fit as ever in the build up to the ESPN + broadcast clash.

“I wasn’t expecting this fight but as soon as it came up, it got me excited so hopefully we can put on a good show for the fans in the arena and tuning in around the world.”

“It’s such a great platform to fight on and MTK Global just keeps producing the goods. It’s big deals after big deals.

“My body is feeling great. I look back on this camp and it was very hard but also very enjoyable.”

Joining Evans vs. Ormond on a stacked bill in the Welsh capitals is headliner Jay Harris, who fights recent world title challenger Angel Moreno for the EBU flyweight crown, Kieran Gething vs. Craig Woodruff for the Welsh super-lightweight title, plus Kazakh fighters Sultan Zaurbek and Zhankosh Turarov.
