Ritson Hyland title fight officially confirmed

It’s been in the works for a while, and Lewis Ritson has had to be a very patient man but now it has been finally confirmed.

The British Boxing Board of Control has confirmed that Ritson will be involved in a bout for his British Lightweight title, if he wins he gets to keep his belt outright. The bout has been slated to hold on the 16th of June, 2018, venue will be at the Metro Arena in Newcastle.

Ritson (15-0) won his title by convincingly beating Robbie Barrett, the holder of the title at that point. Since then it’s been all the way up for Lewis Ritson. This bout came about after he beat Scotty Cardle on the 24th of March, coming out tops in just two rounds. It wasn’t the easiest of matches for him as Cardle was attacking him venomously in the first round. Ritson rallied though and in the second round dropped Cardle forcing the referee to call for a stoppage.

Paul Hyland Jr (17-0) on his part got the opportunity to challenge for the title after he defeated David Birmingham on the 14th of April over at the Europa Hotel. Initially, he was scheduled to face Floyd Moore, who sadly has had to retire from the sport as a result of a failed brain scan. Birmingham was Moore’s replacement.

It remains to be seen who shall come out victorious as both men are yet to taste defeat. However, Ritson is a big favourite to win the match given that he has fought a total of just three rounds in his last two bouts, with both contests ending in stoppages. He is no doubt a crowd favourite. Hyland will not be a pushover either as he has had his eye on the title and this bout since the turn of the year.

The card will be live on Sky Sports and show promoter will be Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing). Looking for a way to while away your anticipation for the big clash, try online live casino-scr888
