It’s time for the results of a special edition of the Liffey Crane Hire Irish Boxer of the Month award.

Both September and October were considered for a bumper Autumn special.

With pro shows at home and massive amateur success abroad, it was an extended shortlist and it was all about the girls with a 1-2-3 at the top of the poll.

Without further ado, the winner of the vote is…

Niamh Fay

The Swords BC bantamweight claimed gold at the European Youth Championships in Sofia.

The Ballyboughal boxer, in her first year in the age grade, beat Italian. Turkish. and Romanian opposition by unanimous decison en-route to the decider. In the final, facing Croatian, Nikolina Cacic, Fay took a 4-1 verdict to bring home 54kg gold to North County Dublin.

Coming in second was Enniskerry’s Daina Moorehouse who won a bronze at the European Youths, her third continental medal – while Donegal’s Leah Gallen, another European Youth bronze winner, finished third.
