Ray Moylette Mayo Homecoming – UNDERCARD UPDATE

Ray Moylette makes his Mayo Homecoming next month and it promises to be a massive card for Irish boxing.

The Islandeady lightweight faces Mexican Christian Uruzquieta for the WBC International rankings belt at the 2,000-seater Royal Theater in Castlebar.

The Assassin Promotions card is still only taking shape but below we look at what we know about the bill thus far.

The first fighter officially announced was a big one – with Spike O’Sullivan [28(20)-3(3)] set to make his comeback from his world title final eliminator loss to David Lemieux.

The Cork 34-year-old is dropping down to light middleweight as he continues his chase for world honours.

Also due to feature is Irish-based Cuban Luis Garcia [14(11)-0}.

The phenomenally talented light heavyweight has endured a nightmare last few years in terms of his boxing career but will look to give it one more go starting December 7th.

Self-confirmed last night ws undefeated super featherweight prospect Niall O’Connor [4(3)-0].

The Ballybrack fighter stepped up to six rounds during the summer and will be looking for another good win to set himself up for a BUI Celtic title fight – with the belt currently held by Stephen McAfee who challenges for the Irish title on Celtic Clash 7 on November 24th. Should McAfee defeat Feargal McCrory, the BUI Celtic belt will go vacant, should he lose or draw he will retain the secondary strap.

Plenty of other fighters look likely for the card but are currently unconfirmed.

Mullingar super middleweight JJ McDonagh [16(8)-5(2)] and Waterford welterweight Dylan Moran [7(5)-0] have both mentioned during interviews that they will box on the bill, as has debuting Sligo welter Aaron Gethins.

Graham McCormack and Jordan Latimer had been set to box on the bill but this fight is now off due to Latimer’s loss to John Docherty last month. It remains to be seen whether Limerick light middleweight McCormack remains on the bill.

Then there is the rest of the Assassin stable, all of whom will be gunning for spots on the bill. These include – Victor Rabei, Vladimir Belujsky, Paddy McDonagh, Johnny Corcoran, Owen Duffy, Darren Cruise, Thomas Finnegan, Paddy Nevin, Francy Luzoho, Craig McCarthy, and debutant Ruadhan Farrell.

Cillian Reardon is due to feature on Celtic Clash 7 two weeks before and Mathew Fitzsimons is set to box in Mexico three weeks before so look less likely while Stephen Webb has this morning been announced for the bill at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast on the same night.
