Ray Moylette Mayo Homecoming – LIVE UNDERCARD UPDATES

The terrestrial TV cameras return to Irish boxing tonight in Mayo.

Ray Moylette’s big Mayo ‘Homecoming’ card takes place at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar.

TV coverage begins at 8:30pm on TG4 but, before the cameras begin rolling, there are five untelevised undercard fights.

The running order for the night can be seen here

Irish-Boxing.com will be at the Royal Theatre from first bell and will be providing live undercard updates for Niall O’Connor, Owen Duffy, Johnny Corcoran, Paddy Nevin, and Craig O’Brien.

Keep refreshing page to see live updates:

8:15pm – And that’s it for the early undercard, we are switching to TG4 now and the fights can be watched live HERE

Round 2 – Overhand right sends Kovacevic down had at the start of the second. The Croat is up but sent down again with a left hook. O’Brien closing in on his first stoppage and he gets it, send Kovacevic down a third time with a left hook to the body. TKO 2 O’Brien!

Round 1 – O’Brien is levels above here and hurts Kovacevic early. The Dubliner pushes on and has the Balkan down to the body and hurt but it came off the break meaning a strong talking to for O’Brien from the ref. Kovacevic is up, eventually, and sees out the round.

8:05pm – Finally time for Craig O’Brien v Almin Kovacevic over six rounds at light middleweight – and we have our first Sweet Caroline of the night as ‘The Iron’ walks to the ring.

7:55pm – Loud cheers as Ray Moylette comes through the crowd on his way to the dressing rooms.

7:48pm – Next up, Craig O’Brien but we’ll have a short intermission first before his fight with Almin Kovacevic of Croatia..

Round 2 – It’s fast and furious in the second, close quarters trading in the corners and Duvacic has had enough, the towel comes in at the end of the round! A bit of confusion but the fight is over and Owen Duffy moves to 3(2)-0.

Round 1 – Patient start from Duffy, investing in the body. Duvancic looks wild and dangerous though.

19:37pm – Time for Fight #4 as Owen Duffy takes on Croat Ivan Duvancic over six

Round 3 – Rogowski gives it a go in the third before being caught by a beautiful counter combo from Niall which sees his legs go completely and the ref jumps in – TKO 3 O’Connor!

Round 2 – More good work from O’Connor, a lovely short left hook wobbling Rogowski before he is sent down by a shot which the ref rules as low. Seconds later Rogowski is down again to the body and this one counts but he is saved by the bell. Bloodied badly now.

Round 1 – O’Connor hurts Rogowski to the body and the Pole is on queer street. ‘Nasty Niall’ is picking his shots well and Rogowski is sent through the ropes, he objects but it is a knockdown. The straight right hand can’t miss but we go into the second.

7:22pm – Time now for Dublin super feather Niall O’Connor who takes on familiar Pole Krystzof Rogowski over four.

7:20pm – 40:36 to Paddy Nevin who moves to 2(0)-0. Good four rounds for him.

Round 4 – Bozinivic is in a bad way in the fourth round, visibly grimacing as Nevin lands shots upstairs and down, he falls slowly into the ropes as the Dubliner puts on the pressure but he can’t get his man out of there and we go to the cards.

Round 3 – Pace slowing at the start of the third but Nevin picks it up in the final minute, lashing in some HEAVY body shots.

Round 2 – More good work from Nevin, pushing hard and looking to hut Bozinivic but the Balkan is standing firm in the face of a lot of punches from the busy Swords big man.

Round 1 – Nevin starting fast, very aggressive and putting in some nice bodywork.

6:59pm – Four knockdowns in less than a round, nice way to end an 18 month ring hiatus for Johnny Corcoran and move to 2(2)-0 – next up is Paddy Nevin at heavyweight versus Croatian Hrvoje Bozinivic.

Round 1 – Southpaw Corcoran stalking early, a flurry inside and down goes Kucharski. He’s up and Corcoran continues the assault, HUGE left hand, Kucharski is up and unsteady, DOWN AGAIN from another big left, the Pole up once again for more and quickly down for a fourth time – TKO1 CORCORAN!

6:52pm – Now, here we go!

6:47pm – Nevermind, there are two parked cars obstructing the ambulances, will be another few minutes!

6:44pm – Not too much of a delay, Corcoran ready to ringwalk now.

6:32pm – Some bad news to start, though, the returning Luis Garcia is OFF the card tonight due to licencing issues. That brings us down to 11 fights tonight, starting with cruiserweight Johnny Corcoran in the next few minutes.

6:30pm – We are at the venue and ready to go!
