Prestigious award for Conlan

It has been a medal-laden year for one of the most integral members of the Irish boxing community, John Conlan.

The Dublin-born coach, now residing in Belfast, has now been recognised for his efforts and named 2015 High Performance Coach of the Year at Sport NI’s Coaching Awards.

2015 saw Conlan travel the World with son Michael, and Paddy Barnes, helping the duo secure early Olympic qualification.

Conlan, who is Ulster HP Coach, also brought a five man team to the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa where they returned with five medals (three gold, two silver).
