Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] could make history in Windsor Park next Summer if he is registers Vegas victory tomorrow.

The former two-weight world champion makes his much-anticipated return to the ring when he faces unbeaten Tyler McCreary [16(7)-0-1] at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, live on BT Sport and ESPN+.

Defeat the undefeated American and Top Rank have already promised the 32-year-old a world title shot.

‘The Jackal’ does have big name options at various weights, but WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring is the name most spoken in terms of possible opponent over the last few weeks.

‘Semper Fi’ would provide one of the greatest Irish fighters of all time with the chance to become the countries first three weight world champion – and the opportunity to make history certainly appeals to the Jamie Moore trained fighter.

To add further excitement proceedings there is now talk that fight could play out not just in Belfast, but Windsor Park.

“There is talk of facing Jamel Herring next for his WBO super-featherweight title, and that definitely interests me,” Frampton explained.

“I want to get that fight. I thought I’d never fight in Belfast again, but there’s talk of it being at Windsor Park in spring next year, so it can’t get much better than that. I’m sure Top Rank and MTK Global can deliver that for me.

“The last Windsor Park event was incredible, but to have a world title fight going for greatness trying to become a three-weight world champion would top the last one there.”

To set up a second dream Windsor occasion – Frampton fought Luke Jackson at the Stadium in August 2018 – the former two-division titlist has to beat McCreary.

The Belfast man knows he hasn’t been handed a gimme, is aware he is under pressure, but is adamant he will perform.

“McCreary seems to be getting comfort out of me looking to that fight and he thinks I’m looking past him, but I’m definitely not, I’m 100% focused on Tyler McCreary.”

“He’s got an opportunity to fight someone that will shoot his name up the rankings, so he’ll perform at his best. I’m preparing for a tough fight, and like I said I’m not taking my eye off the ball. The pressure is on as I know I have to beat him, and I’ll perform well under pressure.”
