Starting tonight in Scotland, there are Irish boxers in action on both sides of the Atlantic as the boxing season starts to kick into gear.

Thursday September 15th
Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow
Marco McCullough [14(9)-3(2)] – Featherweight
The Belfast man gets back into the swing of things against Lithuania’s Simas Volosinas [6(1)-48(6)].
– Record: Hugely experienced. Has fought most prospects including a points loss to Anto Cacace and a stoppage defeat to James Tennyson.
– Style: Slippery, negative, and durable.
– Video: A recent loss to Josh Wale.
– Verdict: An easy, confidence-building comeback fight for Marco.
An okay opponent.

Friday September 15th
Sir David English Sports Centre, Bournemouth
Tommy Carter [1(0)-1(0)] – Middleweight
Irish Tommy takes on home fighter MH Legg [2(1)-1(0)] over four rounds.
– Record: The prospect suffered a shock loss in his second fight. Has not fought in almost a year.
– Style: Unknown.
– Video: No footage available.
– Verdict: Carter has been brought in to lose, but is planning the upset.
A good opponent.

Saturday September 16th
Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion, Gilford, New Hampshire
Gary O’Sullivan [22(15)-2(1)] – Middleweight
Spike takes on Costa Rican Jaime Barboza [19(9)-8(2)].
– Record: Two-time WBA interim title challenger, losing to Belfast’s Brian Magee and Ukrainian Stanislav Kashtanov. Plenty of decent wins in Costa Rica and a few shocks on the road over Mauricio Reynoso [then 14(11)-0-1] and Jose Pinzon.[15(9)-1(0)]. Only recently returned to the ring after a three years hiatus.
– Style: Physically small counter-puncher with decent power
– Video: A tenth round stoppage loss to Stanislav Kashtanov
– Verdict: A strong opponent for a comeback fight.
A good opponent.

Steve Collins Jr [8(3)-0-1] – Light Heavyweight

Journeymen’s Corner
Casey Blair [3(0)-12(3)], Alec Bazza [0-17(3)-1], and Jamesy Gorman [8(3)-25(2)-1] are all in action at the Hillcroft Hotel in Whitburn in Scotland on Friday night.
Blair is up against novice welter Derek Skinner [2(1)-0],
Bazza will be hoping to sneak a maiden victory versus JP McGuiness [2(0)-3(2)].
Gorman will give some rounds to Jason Easton [6(3)-0] – who is warming up for a Celtic light welter title shot next month.
