New fighter announced for Ireland’s Last Man Standing

The Ireland’s Last Man Standing card has been bolstered once again with the announcement of another undercard fighter.

Following the announcement of Dublin bantamweight Dylan McDonagh [2(1)-0] last night, Kildare featherweight Allan Phelan [9(6)-3(1)-1] has this evening been confirmed for the big bill in Dublin.

Phelan will feature on the early undercard of the March 3rd show at the National Stadium which also features an eight-man Prizefighter-style middleweight tournament with a €59,000 prize pool and an Irish light middleweight title fight between Jay Byrne and Craig O’Brien.

The title fight and the tournament will be televised live on TG4, however Phlan’s bout will not.

Nevertheless it is a welcome return to action for the Celtic Warriors man who, after over two years out, fought four times in 2017.

Three of these appearances came on Red Corner, who co-promote the Last Man Standing event, cards. Following two wins earlier in the year, Phelan fell to a surprising defeat to Jamie Quinn, but bounced back with an entertaining stoppage win over Krzysztof Rogowski in October.

The 26-year-old will be aiming to kick off 2018 with a win as he targets titles later in the year.

Red Corner and co-promoter Assassin are keen to build up the undercard for the show in just over four weeks time, and have called for interested boxers to get in contact if they want to feature.

Alongside McDonagh, the undercard currently also includes Vladimir Belujsky, Cillian Reardon, Victor Rabei, and Dylan Moran.

Currently there are six fighters confirmed for the Last Man Standing tournament – Bernard Roe, Sean McGlinchey, Chris Blaney, Roy Sheahan, Alfredo Meli, and Ger Healy – with two more to be announced soon.
