New fight date confirmed for Aaron McKenna

Golden Boy’s Aaron McKenna will return to the ring next month in California.

The Monaghan welter was last night confirmed for a Golden Boy on ESPN bill at the Fantasy Springs Resort and Casino in Indio, Los Angeles, on Thursday November 8th.

McKenna [5(3)-0] has been kept busy since turning pro late last year and fought most recently in August..

The Smithborough teenager had a debut war with Travis Conley in Las Vegas and then rattled off successive Los Angeles knockouts versus Jose Palacios, Keasen Freeman, and Darel Harris, before beating Rolando Mendivil on points in Hollywood.

The 19-year-old has yet to be scheduled for more than four rounds and may make the step up to six on next month’s bill – which is headlined by a light middleweight clash between Neeco Macias and Jesus Soto Karass.

This fight will be McKenna’s third at the Fantasy Springs venue – with his previous two appearances ending in first-round knockouts.

‘The Silencer’ is currently based in Los Angeles with South African trainer Courage Tshabala alongside his older brother Stevie who is in the process of making the move to the professional game, joining Aaron under the management of Sheer Sports.

Manny Robles Jr, son of Mick Conlan’s former trainer, will also feature on the undercard in Indio with more to be announced.

An opponent for McKenna will be confirmed shorly.
