Michael Conlan v Vladimir Nikitin undercard update

Padraig McCrory [8(3)-0] is the latest name added to Michael Conlan vs. Vladimir Nikitin bill set for Féile an Phobail on August 3.

The undefeated super-middleweight will fight a yet to be confirmed fighter at the Falls Park on what is becoming an increasingly exciting bill.

It will be the third time ‘The Hammer’ fights this year and rumour doing the rounds is he will be handed a step up worthy of the occasion.

The Irish-boxing.com Knockout of the Year winner and the fighter ranked #2 at super-middleweight in the Irish-boxing.com divisional rankings  is certainly excited to be part of such an event.

McCrory Feile

“I never would’ve thought there’d be such a massive boxing event in the Falls Park but it’s happening and it looks like it’s going to be massive. It’s a dream to be on it,” McCrory explained.

“This is huge work MTK Global are doing. They’ve teamed up with Top Rank, ESPN+, Frank Warren and BT Sport and it shows how big it’s getting.

“To bring someone like Bob Arum over to Belfast is massive. For myself, to be here from where I was a year ago – I couldn’t have seen it. I’m on the verge of some big fights.

“It’s going to be crazy. Tickets are really hard to get hold of already and it’s seven weeks away! It’s going to be loud.

“I’ve seen loads of events at Féile and they’re all brilliant. I also boxed on Michael Conlan’s last show, which was amazing – but this is going to be even bigger.”

MTK’s Professional Development Coordinator Jamie Conlan believes McCrory is a great addition to the show.

“This is great news for Poddy, who’s been going about climbing the rankings in style and is already a very popular figure on the Belfast scene.

“It’s a fantastic stage for emerging talents and we’ve no doubt that along with his team-mates, Poddy will seize the moment and delight his legions of Belfast fans on the night.”

McCrory joins Paddy Barnes, Sean McComb and Alfredo Meli as local fighters already added to the card.
