Mexican Moran admits he has no immediate domestic title plans

Dylan Moran [10(5)-1(1)] plans to take step one on the road back to genuine American success in Mexico tonight and isn’t planning a domestic assault as a result.

Moran was one of the welterweight names mentioned by Irish title hungry Keane McMahon [6(3)-1(0)] in an open 147lbs call out.

‘The Iceman’, who fights on the Celtic Clash 9 card in Belfast next month, wants to fight for the green strap on Celtic Clash 10 – which is rumoured to play out before the year ends – and told all his fellow Irish welters he willing to fight anyone one of them for strap.

Waterford fighter Moran was one of those mentioned and it’s a fight that would intrigue fight fans, but Moran’s gaze is firmly fixed on America and making it big Stateside.

The Déise man respects the Dubliner’s ambition, but revealed he won’t be answering the call.

Having lost to Dennis Okoth on his American and Star Boxing debut, the 24-year-old wants to get two quickfire wins under his belt before returning to the States.

He begins that rehabilitation process in Mexico tonight before fighting on the ‘He Who Dares’ card in Belfast next month.

“I seen the piece you had with Keane. Look, fair play to him for putting it out there respectfully and for willing to fight anybody,” Moran told Irish-Boxing.com before he flew to the Mexican West Coast.

“Honestly, that is a fight I’d jump at if I hadn’t better options on the table at the moment in America. I’m going that route for now, but in this game things change quickly and anything can happen.”

Moran fights for a second time in Mexico tonight and takes on Israel Ornelas [10(5)-17(11)-2] and the Big Punch Arena in Tijuna.

All going well he will fight just over four weeks later at the Devenish Complex on October 25th where he is scheduled to fight Hungarian Pal Olah [9(7)-26(8)-3].

Beyond this, ‘The Real Deal’ is dreaming of a rematch with Dennis Okoth to avenge his sole career loss.
