McKenna secures fight date- Hitman will be looking to make four straight first round KO’s next month

Stevie McKenna [3(3)-0] will look to build on his impressive pro start when he returns to the ring next month.

The Smithborough fighter will appear on an Englebrecht Promotions card on October 10.

The older of two fighting brothers based in LA – Stevie trains alongside unbeaten welter Aaron ‘The Silencer’ McKenna- appears on a mixed MMA and boxing card and will fight over four light welterweight rounds at the The Hangar in Orange County, California – the venue that hosted his second pro fight.

The exciting prospect, who is trained by by South African former heavyweight contender Courage Tshabalala and World Trainer of the Year winner Robert Garcia, will trade leather with Edgar Ivan Garcia [7(2)-20(5)-1].

The Mexican 31-year-old has been stopped in his last four fights and if McKenna’s approach is anything to go by may suffer the same result again.

The 22-year-old has lived up to his ‘Hitman’ ring moniker to date.

The prospect, whose sparring CV includes Vasyl Lomachenko among other big names, has taken out his first three foes – all three stoppages coming in the first round.

Trey Branch was the first to be broken early as he was beaten as the Monaghan fighter debuted in style in April of this year.

Keasen Freeman didn’t last three minutes either he fell victim to the young prospects power in June whist previously unbeaten Ameircan novice Kealoha Helm suffered the same fate and was the third to go within a round two months later.

McKenna doesn’t seem to want to hang around, but his team may be hoping he does get some rounds in come October 10.

Unlike his brother Aaron, who is signed to Golden Boy, McKenna has yet to sign a promotional deal, but his ring and gym displays are said to be attracting interest.
