McKenna planning perfect 10 performance after 9 months out

Tyrone McKenna hasn’t been sitting on his laurels.

While he has been inactive in terms of fights the welterweight prospect has been pro active in terms of training and making improvements.

The Belfast fighter has been nine months out of the competitive ring and hasn’t fought since he beat Kevin McAuley back in August of last year.

That  sabbatical generally proves frustrating for fighters, but southpaw McKenna is keen to look at the positives and claims he has used the time to make improvements.

The 26 year old, who is looking to go 10-0 on Saturday, explains he has matured as a pro despite a lack of opportunity to bank rounds and claims he has learnt and improved under the tutelage of Danny Vaughan, who also mentors Jamie Conlan.

According to the undefeated prospect those improvements will be on display in Spain this Saturday as McKenna plans a fan friendly display.

“It’s been a long nine months since my last fight in August, but I’ve been keeping busy in the gym. I had two fights fall through on me so  I can’t wait to get back to were I belong and trade leather in the ring,” he told Irish-boxing.com before brushing off inactivity worries.

“Although I haven’t been active I feel in the best shape ever.  I’ve learnt a lot over the last few months working with Danny Vaughan and I want show, that although I haven’t fought in nine months I have matured as a professional fighter and hopefully I can showcase that on Saturday night.I love making the crowd happy so I always want put in a good performance.”
