McGlinchey secures third Team Northern Ireland bronze

SEANY McGlinchey secured Team Northern Ireland’s third Commonwealth medal with victory on Glasgow this evening.

The light heavyweight, who beat Jamaican opposition to progress past the the final 16, over came Kenyan opposition to secure at least a bronze.

The Derry puncher defeated  Elly Ajowi Ochola by a unanimous decision to join Joe Fitzpatrick and Sean Duffy in the semi finals.

“I have to keep my head focused now – there’s no reason why I can’t go on and win gold,” he said after his bout.
