McCrory: I will do a number on pro opponent number one

After a number of false dawns, Feargal McCory is ready to make his debut and shine at the Waterfront on Friday night.

The Breen’s Gym lightweight and former youth international was due to punch for pay for the first time in both the Spring and the Summer, but saw bouts fall through.

The delay, however, may have been a blessing in disguise claims McCrory, as not only as he has been afforded more time to try and develop a pro style, the Belfast puncher also gets to make his pro bow on a bigger card and at a bigger venue than first mooted.

“Looking back, the delay probably did benefit me with being out of the ring for a while. That bit of extra time to work on things was a big bonus,” McCory told Irish-boxing.com.

“There was a few reasons, mainly the lack of shows being run. We continued to work hard in the gym and try improve every day, but it was frustrating not having a date to aim for. When we found out a few weeks back training picked up and I felt a lot more driven.

“It’s great to be on a big show with a huge crowd attending. I know a lot of people will take note so there is added pressure on me to performance. My own ticket sales have been through the roof and I’ve had to turn people away. I’m delighted the debut is here and I’m looking forward to getting in there and getting my career started.,” McCory added.

With Conrad Cummings versus Alfredo Meli topping the exciting bill and Marco McCullough in action against a former EU Champion, grabbing the spotlight will prove difficult for the debutant, but he is determined to put on a show and promises to do a number on opponent number one of what he hopes will be a successful pro career.

” I don’t know much about my opponent apart from his nationality, Hungarian. But I’m sure he is very tough and I’m completely focused on doing a number on him come Friday,” McCrory added before giving his sponsors a mention.

“I’ve had two great sponsors come on board in PK Murphy LTD and Home Style Furnishings and they have proved a great help.”

I predict huge work-ethic and, if he likes to fight, then I promise a war! Either way I promise to bring excitement.”
