McCloskey calls out division’s best

Paul McCloskey has called out all the light welterweight division top names after it appears any hope of an August Belfast bout with Bredis Prescott has vanished.

It was hoped the former British and European champion could manoeuvre his way back into world title contention and a possible rematch with Amir Khan by defeating the only man that holds a reverse over the Englishman.

The stage was set for a massive Belfast showdown, but it seems the Columbian has moved from light welter to welterweight putting paid to any Dudey clash. The Dungiven stylist, however is confident he can secure another massive fight with a global names and has called for the light welterweight super powers to face him over the weekend.

On his hit list are IBF champion Zab Judah, former Amir Khan opponent and interim champion to his crown, Marcos Maidana, WBC and WBO strap owner Timothy Bradley and former champ Devon Alexander. Indeed both Judah and Maidana told Mirror Sport this Spring that they were open to challenging the talented 31 year old and McCloskey could get the chance to put his controversial defeat to Khan behind him with another mega fight.

The Derry native, who endured protracted and frustrating contract talks with team Khan before the pair met in April, also assured the divisions elite that he is easy to deal with. McCloskey blasted greed in the game in another little Khan dig stressing he is willing to do what it takes to ensure a bout with a light welterweight big name.

“I see the Khans are having their usual money grabbing problems. Ive been there before with them. We can make a fight much easier than some other greedy fighters. Lets get it on. Money grabbing and fighters-come-promoters are ruining boxing. I want to fight the best and am willing to do that whatever it takes to ensure that happens, added the former EBU champion.
