Darragh Foley toughed out a win this morning in Australia as he started the next chapter of his career.

Following his loss to Tyrone McKenna in Belfast during the Summer, light welter Foley was back out again today in Sydney at the Hordern Pavilion.

Given a tough match in Filipino banger James Bacon over eight rounds, Foley was decked in the opener round by the big punching welter but managed to rise.

Eventually the Blanch boxer would get to grips with the South East Asian and he would battle through down the stretch to claim a unanimous decision win with cards of 77-74 x2 and 78-75.

The win sees 31-year-old Foley improve his record to 18(9)-4(0)-1 while the game Bacon drops to 23(15)-4(1).

Afterwards Foley would donate his shorts to auction for the family of Dwight Ritchie, the Aussie boxer who recently died tragically in a sparring accident.
