The Lion will roar against Matthew Macklin says Rose

It’s needs must for Brian Rose and Matthew Macklin on April 2.

Brain Rose claims both fighters will claim victory is essential if they are to continue pursuing their respective World title dreams.

Some would argue it’s win or retire for both the former light middleweight world title challenger and Ireland’s former three time middleweight world challenger.

Speaking as the pairs April 2 clash draws closer Rose told Sky Sports.

We both need it more than each other. He’ll say he needs it and I’ll say I need it more, because I need it to go on and fight for a world title again. That’s what I want more than anything.”

There are suggestions there is more pressure on the former Irish, British and European champion  ahead of the clash as people would expect a prime Macklin to walk through a fighter that was never regarded a big light middleweight.

However, Rose is adamant he is ready for the fight and will dig deep to save his career.

“Macklin is known as a come-forward, strong fighter and I don’t know if he is going to do that. He might bring something different to the ring. People know me as a boxer but in the last couple of fights, I’ve got involved when maybe I shouldn’t have but I showed a different side to myself, which I think people like.

“They’ve seen the reason I am called ‘The Lion’ and that’s what I will look to do again – to box for a few rounds and then if I’ve got to dig deep, I will.”
