Limerick’s Lee Reeves promises to show World Class potential on Mick Conlan undercard

New York St Patrick’s Day fight fans will leave Madison Square Garden knowing they have witnessed a future Irish world champion register an early career victory predicts Lee Reeves.

When the Limerick prospect makes the statement he isn’t talking about the two world title hopefuls, Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes, fighting at the top end of the bill, he is says it with himself in mind.

The new to the game pro adds further Irish interest to the Sunday night card which boasts two former amateur stars at the forefront and is confident he will impress.

It is a massive opportunity for the 24-year-old welterweight to grab some attention in front of a packed house and the ESPN+ cameras.

However, Reeves [2(2)-0] is adamant that he is not on the bill just to add an extra bit of Irish flavour.

The Corpus Christi graduate is a Lee Baxter Promotions stablemate of Samuel Vargas – who fights Luis Collazo in the co-main.

Reeves claims he is on the high profile card on merit and is determined to show he is potential world class operator on the Top Rank bill.

“I think its a chance to show why it wasn’t a lucky pick that I am on these type of shows,” Reeves told Irish-Boxing.com.

“I am gonna show up fit and ready and get the win like I always do and move on and improve again.” he adds before producing a third person mention as if to express his confidence further.

“I predict that Lee Reeves will be once again victories and have his hand raised. The New York fans can expect to leave the arena knowing they just seen a future world champion win his third pro fight on his journey to the top.”

While he believes he deserves to be in the position he is in, the southpaw does know he has been handed a dream platform this coming Sunday.

“Of course, it’s an unbelievable card to be on,” he admits.

“Any Irish sports person could only dream of fighting in Madison Square Garden on St Patrick’s Day,” he continues before explaining the magnitude of the card and his appearance on it has created a bit of buzz back home in Limerick.

“I’m not at home to really feel the buzz or tap into what’s actually happening but, from what I hear, it’s amazing support back home.”

“It is support I am thankful and grateful for. There are a few coming over from Ireland and I am sure there will be a couple more Irish in New York to support on the day!”

Reeves has been preparing for his third pro fight and his first outside of Canada in sunny Los Angeles and claims camp couldn’t have gone better.

“Camp has gone great! I am training here in Los Angeles alongside Samuel Vargas under the watchful eye of coach Rudy Hernandez in Maywood Boxing Club. I am getting top class sparring too.”
