Likely next Taylor foe signs with Lou DiBella in a bid to secure better purse

The fighter tipped by most to be Katie Taylor’s next opponent has signed a promotional contract with Lou DiBella.

The move means Christina “Black Mamba” Linardatou [12(6)-1] becomes a stable mate of another potential Taylor foe, Amanda Serrano, as well as the Irish stars former amateur team mate Joe Ward.

The WBO light welterweight world champion is rumoured to the fight the undisputed lightweight champion will pursue for November and a London card.

The thinking behind the move is to get one foot on the two weight undisputed path.

Both the fighter and her manager confirmed previously to Irish-boxing.com that Matchroom and Eddie Hearn had been in touch, but as is becoming more increasing considering Taylor is now the female boxing money fight both claimed the offer wasn’t good enough.

Considering DiBella’s close working relationship with Hearn and DAZN it would appear at first glance that the move makes the fight easy to make, but Irish-boxing.com believes the link up came about as to ensure the Greek based Dominican Republic fighter gets the kind of money she wants for the fight.

The 31-year-old , captured the vacant WBO 140-pound world title on March 24, with a sixth-round knockout of previously undefeated, #1-ranked contender Kandi Wyatt in Athens.

The fight was the first boxing world championship contest in the country’s history.

Following up on her world title victory, Linardatou successfully made her first defense on June 7 winning a 10-round unanimous decision against unbeaten challenger DD Hobbs at the Olympic Hall Galatsi in Athens.

“I’m honored to bring another world champion into the DiBella family,” said Lou DiBella, President of DiBella Entertainment.

“With her fan-friendly style and willingness to fight anywhere in the world, Christina will become a big star in women’s boxing. Her manager Brian Cohen and I have very big plans and we are excited to see her career grow from here.”

“Lou DiBella’s passion and action speak loud and clear,” said Linardatou. “For many years, Lou has been not only one of the very best promoters, but a true supporter and fighter for women’s boxing, working with numerous top contenders and world champions. I’m very confident that he can provide me with big opportunities to take my career to the next level.”
