Late addition to Celtic Clash 4 card

The Celtic Clash 4 bill in Dublin this weekend has been boosted by a last minute addition.

Boxing Ireland Promotions and Tony Davitt Promotions return to the National Stadium on Saturday December 2nd for their third show of the year.

A packed bill headlined by Eric Donovan’s BUI Celtic featherweight title defence against Juancho Gonzalez and also featuring a BUI Celtic welterweight title between Dubliners Crank Whitehouse and Jay Byrne – this evening it has been confirmed that Roscommon middleweight Darren Cruise [7(1)-6(0)] has been added to the show.

The Castlerea fighter recently linked up with Assassin Boxing, and was due to make his return to the ring at the weekend in Portsmouth.

There was disappointment however for Cruise who saw his fight, his first since his close Irish title loss to Luke Keeler during the Summer, cancelled literally minutes before he was due to step into the ring.

Cruise was gloved up and ready to go with new trainer Eddie Hyland, but issues with his opponent saw the fight pulled from the bill in the cruelest of circumstances.

The 27 year old will not have to wait long though, and will make his return this Saturday.

Assassin boss Kaz Evans described how “it was very disappointing for Darren. He was ready to go, and he got the news just before 8pm, that he could not fight. He is a great professional, and understood the situation. We are very glad that Leonard Gunning has made space for Darren to get on the show on Saturday, and we look forward to Darren to getting out in The National Stadium again.”

Also featuring on the card this weekend will be Craig O’Brien, Bernard Roe, John Joyce, Graham O’Shea McCormack, Colin O’Donovan, Vladimir Belujsky, Dylan McDonagh, Carl McDonald, Niall O’Connor, James Cahill, Stephen McAfee, Martin Quinn, and Thomas Finnegan.
