Martinez: Frampton faces a different prospect this time round

CARL Frampton won’t be going over old ground in the Titanic Quarter on September 6 claims Kiko Martinez.

The IBF super bantamweight champion puts his title on the line against ‘The Jackal’ in an eagerly anticipated repeat of the pairs February 2012 European title fight. The Belfast star claimed victory in the pairs first meeting becoming the first man to stop the Spaniard in the process.

Martinez, however, is confident he can upset the 16,000 fight fans that will come expecting baying for blood and warns Frampton faces a different prospect this time round.

Martinez, who went on to win the world title and defend it twice with knock out wins since his Odyssey Arena reverse, claims he is a rejuvenated fighter and as a result the result will be different.

“I am champion of the world,” said Martinez in Belfast last week. “I had a bad night the last time I was here. But things will be different this time. I am ready. I’ve a better team. My defence is better. I’m stronger physically. Mentally I’m stronger too.”
