Kieran Farrell has big plans for Belfast

Young Manchester promoter Kieran Farrell has certainly made an impression with his entry into the Irish scene.

The 26 year old has, so far, snapped up eight Irish fighters and is in talks with many more. After initially eyeing an October date for his first Belfast show, Farrell has brought this card – ‘A New Era‘ – forward to Saturday April 22nd at the Devenish Complex, and he has revealed that plans are already in place for an even bigger summer show.

With the Devenish Complex only capable of holding between 800 and 1,000 fans, Farrell admits that he has been blown away by the interest of Irish fight fans, especially regarding his low ticket prices. Therefore, he feels bigger venues will be needed for future shows

“We’re looking at June for the second date at a big venue,” Farrell told Irish-Boxing.com.

“We’ve sort of outgrown the Devenish already. It’s become apparent with the Devenish, that with the amount of fighter’s I’ve signed up, I wont be able to put them all on. It wouldn’t make me money and it wouldn’t make the lads money. so what we’ve got to do is we’ll have to do bigger venues and more shows.”

Before moving on to bigger venues however, Farrell is planning a memorable night in West Belfast for the Feargal McCrory-topped bill. The former Breen Team fighter predicts that the show “will be something the Devenish hasn’t seen before.”

“I’m getting lighting crews, for laser beams, light shows, and the like. We’ve got a big screen where we’re going to be doing videos of the lads. If you look at all the photos of my previous shows in Manchester, they’re all ram-packed, and they’re ram-packed because the tickets are a good price. More and more people are coming because they’re having such a good night out.”

Farrell wants to keep his Irish fighters busy and has pledged to secure them at least four fights each – some of which may be in Manchester and will not require the selling of a ticket allocation.

He outlined how “I’m an honest person and I try to give fighters a good deal. I will give the lads an opportunity to get on one of my shows in Manchester if I can’t fit them on in Belfast.”

“I cant offer them much but it’s something. I spoke to all the lads about that and they were happy with it. I told them that if I can’t get them four fights a year, I’m not a very good manager, so hopefully they’ll all get four fights a year whether it’s in Belfast or Manchester.”

“A lot of people do a lot of talking – I don’t do much talking, but when I do talk I follow it through. We’re in it for the right reasons, and that’s to win titles, we’re not in it for money, we’re in it for what we can make out of it – and that’s to put our names in books. Them history books are there for two minutes.”

Farrell’s current Irish stable comprises of Dylan Moran, Sean McGlinchey, Mark Morris, Sean Magee, Gerard Healy, Mathew Fitzsimons, Joe Hillerby, and Dan McShane.

Tickets for ‘A New Era’ will be released shortly and be available from the boxers involved at the following prices: £20 (standing), £35 (unreserved seating), and £60 (VIP table seating).
