Keen Teen – debutant Ruadhan Farrell targets titles

Ruadhan Farrell,  is in no mood to hang around.

A graduate of the Newington Patsy Quinn club in North Belfast, Farrell makes his debut on the ‘He Who Dares’ bill set for the Devenish and October 25, but doesn’t want to ease his way into the pro game.

The teen puncher, who has semi pro previous, takes on Kieran Holman [0-6(3)] in what is a routine enough paid bow, but is determined to step it up in 2020.

In fact the John Breen trained fighter wants two fights before the year is done then he will look toward title clashes.

“I want to get two fights by the end of 2019 and then in the long term I want to be very busy. I want to fight for the Celtic title and the Irish title,” he told Irish-boxing.com.

While he may have to work his way into title contention signing with Boxing Ireland may help in terms of securing early step up fights.

The promotional company behind the Celtic Clash series have no issue in making early all Irish fights and would facilitate step up calls.

“I signed with Boxing Ireland three weeks ago. They are only people running shows, they are leading management team in the whole of Ireland.”

While he took time to look deeper into his future, Farrell is at present more excited about whats just around the corner.

The fighter, who had hoped to debut in Mayo in December of last year, finally gets the chance to punch for pay this Autumn and can’t wait to get going.

He claims the reaction to him turning over has been positive and has only really had to focus on improving his fitness ahead of the ‘He Who Dares’ debut fight.

“I cant wait, it’s only six weeks to go until fight night. We have been in the gym working hard on everything, but mostly fitness. John Breen told me to turn over that I will do very well in the pros and we are looking forward to getting in the ring now.

“I’ll fight anyone to be honest, but they got me a opponent  called Kevin Holman from England. I am looking forward to fighting him. There has been good interest in tickets and I think now is the right time to turn over for me.”
