Kavanagh loving home comforts and excited about Dublin return

Jamie Kavanagh is used to fighting in the ‘Lions Den’ having plied most of his 22 fight career in American and traded leather in front passionate Mexican fans in Quintana.
The difference now is the lions are roaring in support rather than baying for Nuisance blood.
The 25 year old lightweight made his Dublin debut last November  five years after he punched for pay for the first time and returns to the National Stadium again on February 6.
Kavanagh, who challenging for the WBO European title live on Boxnation next month, is enjoyed the home comforts when he out pointed the awkward Ozkar Fiko.
It was a welcome change for the fighter, who is hoping to build on an already decent fan base in the Capital and he can’t wait to trade leather in front of his support again.
“There is a big difference fighting at home,” Kavanagh told Irish-boxing.com.
“When I look out to the crowd they are cheering for me rather than against me. The crowd really drives you on. They certainly did in my in last fight, so that was great and big for me. I never received a reception like that.”
In Fiko, Kavanagh had a debut Dublin foe who he was all but certain to beat, but was always going to find it hard to look good against.

The Hungarian, who notoriously awkward and indeed dirty, was ironically a pure nuisance, however he expects to be afforded the chance to show his skills on the Clash of the Clans card.
Antonio Joao Bento (30-15-2) comes to Dublin with the chance to win claim the WBO European strap and change his career. That ambition marred with a more fan friendly style means Kavanagh believes it will be a more entertaining encounter.
“I have seen him fight on YouTube. He’s a tough guy and stands in front of you. I don’t like too look too much at the opponent because sometimes being too careful on certain things is bad.
“My coach and I have a good game plan in place. Styles make fights and they can also affect your performance. The last guy I fought wasn’t there too box, so it was frustrating,” Kavanagh added.
“Like I said from what I’ve seen this guy is a lot cleaner fight and comes to fight so I can do certain a stuff I have worked on in camp. Last time out I was just being held!!!”
