Katharina Thanderz Set to Fight WBC World Super Featherweight Title on November 16 in Oslo

After topping a finger-biting event at the Ekeberghallen in Oslo, Katharina Thanderz (12-0, 2 KOs) is all set for dream World title fight scheduled to happen on 16 November in Oslo.

Thanderz aims to walk the path of countrywoman Cecilia Braekhus who is the current Unified champion 147 lbs and is regarded as the best female boxers of all times.

It is important to mention here that Thanderz is on a winning spree and had tasted victory in its 12 professional contests. This former WBC International Champion is now heading towards her first World title action against Buenos Aires-based Brazilian, Danila Ramos (8-1, 1 KO).

Excited by this recent development, Thanderz was spotted saying that she is hungry and motivated to win the title and will put in the required hard work to win the fight at this level. She further added that she will do everything possible to give Norway a new champion.

On the other hand, her competitor, Ramos seems to be equally excited about winning the title. Reportedly, she feels that she was at the wrong end of points decision for the same WBC strap against Elhem Mekhaled this year. Also known as A Guerreira (The Warrior), this 34-year old, is ready to win and has her strategy ready to bring the title back to Argentina and defeat the Norway fighter.

This iconic event will take place at Oslo venue that has previously hosted two World title fights before professional boxing went on a 33-year ban in Norway. Reportedly, it was at this venue that Alfredo Escalera was challenged by Svein Erik Paulsen in December 1975 for the WBC World Super Featherweight title. Another similar event took place in 1976 when Victor Galindez fought against Harald Skog to win the WBA World Light Heavyweight title. It is important to mention here that Norway has always been passionate about sports, whether it be boxing or football. Recently, Norway is witnessing a new craze towards betting, and a lot of Norwegian bookmakers are making their presence felt across the world for all the right reasons.

That said, Thanderz has signed promotional terms with Team Sauerland. Nisse Sauerland, the promoter of the event, is confident about Thanderz’s win and believes that she will be able to win her first World title. He further added that Ekeberghallen has always been passionate about boxing and that they plan to take this legacy ahead on November 16.

All the spellbinding action from the Ekeberghallen will be telecasted live in Norway on Viasat 4. As it seems, the Programme Manager Sports for NENT Group, Christian Ramberg, seems to be equally excited about this tiff. He was spotted saying that Katharina is a fantastic fighter and that they cannot wait to catch the live-action.

More Action in Pipeline!

Reportedly, Thanderz will be supported by some of the popular Norway’s boxing names when she will fight against Ramos to claim Featherweight title on November 16. Cruiserweight contender Kevin Melhus will return to the ring to fight against British boxer Ossie Jervier.

That said, Alexander Hagen, a 30-year old heavyweight boxer, is also looking forward to his fourteenth professional victory and third fight in Oslo.

Next in the list is Bernard Torres (9-0, 4 KO) who will face Yesner Talavera (15-9-1, 4 KOs) in the super featherweight category. He is also looking forward to his fight in Norway and expects that a lot of people from his hometown will land to support him.

As is evident, this is going to be an action-packed event with more fights to be announced soon. According to Nisse Sauerland, this is going to be a huge event in the Norwegian capital which would keep the fans glued to their seats. The event will feature the best of Norwegian boxing, and they are happy to provide an amazing platform to the budding talent. He further added that more fight announcements will follow soon!

Atle Walgren who works for Norway Box Promotion revealed that they wanted to be involved with Norway professional boxing for a long time and wanted to provide an amazing platform to the young boxers to help them come up and experience, and now that this is happening, they are extremely thrilled with the development. He further thanked Sauerland and believes that pulling off such a great event would not be possible without active cooperation with him.

So, are you all geared up for the action? You can catch all the action live in Oslo. The tickets for Capital Showdown which will feature the interim clash for the WBC World Super Featherweight title between Danila Ramos and Katharina Thanderz are now available for sale online and can be purchased via www.ticketmaster.no.
