Jermall Charlo’s coach warned Dennis Hogan [28(7)-2(0)-1] the WBC world middleweight champion ‘turns dreams into nightmares’.

The Kildare fighter brought his usual positive approach to New York earlier this week and told the champion he was destined to dethrone him at the official press conference to announce the fight.

Indeed, ‘The Hurricane’ revealed he had already visualized the moment where he lifted the famous green strap aloft.

However, Charlo’s coach, Ronnie Shields advises against dreaming big before talking on one of the two champion twins and predicted a bad night for the Australian based Irish fighter.

The respected trainer is confident Charlo [29(21)-0] will secure victory to maintain his unbeaten status and retain the title. He also revealed that ‘The Hitman’ is being trained to register a knock out win when the pair meet in the Barclays Center on December 7.

Charlo has gone the full twelve round distance in his last two outings and it seems he is keen to be a bit more clinical and pleasing on the eye in his latest defence.

“We’re not planning to make this go the distance and have this be a close fight,” Shields said.

“We’re working on speed and combinations more than anything. I think you’re going to see a little bit different Jermall than from his last fight. We all have dreams, Dennis Hogan has dreams, but Jermall turns dreams into nightmares.”

As a trainer Sheilds has obviously studied the challenger, and having watched the last time he fought for a world title in the away corner, he believes the Lillywhite should already have enjoyed world title winning success.

“I’ve been studying Hogan on video. He’s a very determined fighter. He comes to fight. I thought he won the fight against Jaime Munguia. I can understand how he feels right now. But we have to show him something different,” Shields added.

Irish-boxing.com revealed PBC were keen for the world title fight to play out in Houston Texas, only for Hogan, who suffered injustice in Mexico last time out, to put it foot down.

As a result Brooklyn plays host to the Kilcullen man’s second successive world title challenge. With regard to venue Shields sung off the same hymn sheet as Charlo in the press conference intimating the plan was always to host it New York.

“Jermall is really excited as always to fight on Showtime. When he fights in Brooklyn, he’s extra motivated to make Barclays Center his home. There are great fighters here in New York, but he’s put on great shows in the past and he’s looking forward to putting on an even bigger show next time.”
