Irish fighters score wins in America

There was a feast of boxing in Ireland at the weekend weekend with packed cards in both Belfast and Dublin.

However, there was Irish interest to be found on cards abroad. Both Craig O’Brien and Aaron McKenna registered wins in America to add to the success of another strong weekend for the sport in Ireland.

Monaghan teen, McKenna had a high profile platform and showed a wider audience just why people are getting excited about him with a seventh straight win live on DAZN.

The “Silencer” defeated Loretto Olivas 60-53 in California just seven days before his brother Stevie makes his pro debut.

The Sheer Sports-managed welterweight dropped his foe early in the first stanza, but Olivas rose to his feet and made the final bell, which meant a valuable six for the Monaghan man.

Meanwhile in Boston Dublin’s O’Brien celebrated a successful American debut.

‘The Iron’ has followed in the footsteps of gym mates Gary O’Sullivan, Niall Kennedy and Ray Moylette by teaming up with Murphy’s Boxing.
