Two Irish fighters have been dealt a blow with the cancellation of one of this weekend’s shows.

Dublin big men Sean Turner and Ian Tims were due to box on Sunday afternoon on the MGM Liverpool ‘Christmas Cracker’ card at the Devonshire House Hotel.

However, the card in it’s entirety has been shelved due to problems with opponents.

MGM Liverpool explained this afternoon that “as the date grew closer a lack of viable opponents were available for several of the boxers due to the late withdrawal of their scheduled opponents. Consequently, the decision has been made to cancel the upcoming event.”

“Everyone that has bought tickets for the event can obtain a full refund from the point of purchase. MGM would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

The news means that heavyweight Turner [9(6)-0] and cruiserweight Tims [12(3)-3(2)] will not fight until the new year. Tims signed with MGM during the Summer and rejoined old trainer Phil Sutcliffe Sr, fighting on the MHD Promotions show in Belfast in October.

Turner boxed thrice this year, suffering a no-contest disqualification in May before rattling off two wins in September and November.
