The Irish squad returns home from Bulgaria this afternoon following a medal-filled week in Sofia.

The girls in green claimed six medals at the European Youth and Junior Championships.

Aoibhe Carabine and Daina Moorehose, who won three fights each in Sofia, claimed double gold in the Junior middle and light fly classes, while Ciara Brien and Catherine Blaney won bronze.

At Youth level, Lauren Kelly claimed middleweight bronze while Caitlin Fryers won silver.

Ireland finished in 3rd spot in the Junior medals table and in 4th place in the Junior rankings table. The placings are the highest ever finish for an Irish side at this level.

The Irish Youth side finished in 10th spot in the medals table and in 7th place in the rankings table in the Bulgaria capital.

Overall, Ireland finished 5th in medals table and 6th in the rankings table.

Ireland entered 16 boxers across the 23 weights, winning 16 fights and losing 14.

Ireland now have 34 medals since the tournaments inception in 2008 (4 gold, 10 silver, 20 bronze).
