‘I want to take his 0’- Collins planning on breaking McCrory’s duck egg

Steve Collins Jr says the prospect of handing Padraig McCrory his first defeat as a professional is just as appealing as winning the BUI Celtic title ahead of their showdown on the huge #MTKFightNight at Feile an Phobail on August 3.

Collins Jr[14(4)-2(1)-1] faces undefeated McCrory [8(3)-0] on the massive card at Falls Park, live on BT Sport in association with Frank Warren and live on ESPN+ in association with Top Rank.

McCrory is yet to taste defeat during his professional career, but that fact is motivating the fighter, who will appear at super middleweight for the first time in his career next week, to be the first man to hand him a loss.

“McCrory is undefeated and it’s in his hometown, so it gives me a good reason to take this fight seriously and come in prepared because I want to take his 0,” explained the former Irish title challenger.

“Doing that would be just as the Celtic title. My training has gone really well after teaming up with Pete Taylor and joining a new camp, and there are some great lads I’m training alongside.

“I’m happy with how things are going and the build up has been great. I’m delighted to be on such a big bill, especially due to me being a fan of Mick Conlan, so I’m pleased to be on his show and getting exposure.”

Collins Jr vs. McCrory is part of a massive card at Falls Park, that is main evented by Michael Conlan facing the toughest test of his career so far when he takes on Diego Alberto Ruiz.

A huge bill also includes Luke Keeler vs. Luis Arias, Alfredo Meli vs. Araik Marutjan, Paddy Gallagher vs. Chris Jenkins for the British & Commonwealth welterweight titles, Sean McComb vs. Renald Garrido, Olympic hero Paddy Barnes, Dennis McCann, Callum Bradley, Sean Duffy and Dee Sullivan.
