Bob Arum is not only confident he can bring a Jamel Herring [21(10)-2(1)] versus Carl Frampton (27(15)-2(0)] world title fight to Belfast, the Top Rank boss feels an obligation to make the fight for Ireland.

All parties involved have spoken positively about a potential WBO super-featherweight world fight between the pair – and it almost seems nailed on that world champ Herring is next up for ‘The Jackal’.

New York and March were initially muted as the time and place, but in recent weeks Belfast has moved into hosting pole.

Belfast would be ideal for Frampton, but he has stated that, as champion Herring should have venue call. The 32-year-old is willing to travel, but titlist ‘Semper Fi’ has welcomed Belfast talk, indeed he is seems keen to cross the Atlantic.

Arum is also eager for another trip to the fighting capital of Ireland. The veteran promoter points out 34-year-old American Herring would be well compensated and went as far as to say he feels obliged to deliver for the former two weight world champ.

“We believe that we can deliver a title fight for Carl against WBO super-featherweight champion Jamel Herring in Belfast. Whenever the indoor arena over there is ready, we can go ahead and do it,” said Arum.

“Herring would be getting very well paid so I don’t believe that it will be a problem to bring him to Belfast. We really feel we have an obligation to give Carl a big fight in Belfast and I love it over there.”

Arum was present at the Falls Park from the atmospheric Michael Conlan topped Feile fight night and seems excited about the prospect of returning.

“I think they’ve made me an honorary Irishman because of the work we’ve done with Carl and Michael Conlan.”

Windsor Park was another venue mentioned, but Arum seems to be leaning toward ‘The Jackal’s Liar’ the SSE Arena.

Considering the ticket selling success that was Frampton versus the little known Luke Jackson a world title fight of such historic significance would surely sell out the stadium.

The concerns, considering the Feile looks a go again, may be around having two stadium fights in the Summer.

Regardless of venue having such a fight in his home town would be massive for the Jamie Moore trained fighter.

Considering he is super featherweight WBO world champ, Herring provides Frampton with the chance to become a three weight world champion – and to achieve that in front of a loyal fan base that played a major part in his career would only add to the historic night.
